On July 21, 2025, the VCS team came together for its mid-year townhall, a space for performance updates, alignment, and reflection. But this year felt different.

The session opened with a bold, reflective question:

Are our ways of working truly helping us create, deliver, and grow sustainably and meaningfully?

That single question set the tone for the day. The conversation zoomed out beyond outputs—toward the systems that shape how we work. It marked a deliberate shift into systems thinking: not just looking at what we do, but intentionally redesigning how we do it.

Why Systems Matter More Than Ever

Creative teams are drowning in output demands, but creativity alone won’t cut it.

To thrive, VCS teams must go beyond deliverables and design repeatable solutions that are effective, scalable, and sustainable. That’s why we’re turning our focus to the systems behind the creativity.

Systems thinking helps us assess how we collaborate, where ideas flow or stall, and whether our tools are enabling or hindering progress. It's about shaping our ways of working to deliver better, grow smarter, and create with purpose.

What Is Systems Thinking at VCS?

Innovation has always been core to how we work. With our Creative by Design mindset, we’re now applying that same intentionality to our processes, collaboration, and growth.

This shows up in two key ways:

Creativity as a Strategic Solution
We create with purpose. Every campaign, post, or launch is rooted in strategy and insight built to solve problems, spark engagement, and drive results. Creativity, when rooted in strategy, becomes a tool for lasting brand connection.

Systems That Support Scalable Creativity
Great ideas need great systems. We’ve redesigned our operations to enhance clarity, speed, and quality minimizing friction and enabling teams to deliver impactful work efficiently.

What We Heard at the Townhall: Systems in Focus

This year’s townhall shifted the conversation from output to operations, with teams aligning on smarter, more intentional ways to work.

Across departments, representatives opened up about the systems they rely on every day, and just as importantly, where those systems fall short.

Several common themes were brought up:

Clearer handoffs to avoid confusion and delays
Smarter workflows that save time and reduce stress
Tools and templates that prevent rework and guesswork
Structures that support creativity, rather than stifle it

By identifying friction points and sharing ideas openly, teams began shaping the future of how we work together.

This moment marked a move towards being more proactive, choosing to design better systems rather than just respond to issues.

Designing Smarter: What’s Next

As we move into the second half of 2025, VCS is focused on putting insights into action through smarter, more intentional systems:

Cross-functional processes are being aligned to improve clarity and collaboration
Key system improvements are being scoped, assigned, and owned across teams
AI-assisted tools and new approaches are being explored to reduce manual load
Efforts are aimed at building systems that support creativity, not just efficiency

Optimizing workflows is just the beginning. We're laying the foundation for creative work that’s more scalable, strategic, and meaningful because when our systems work better, so do we.
