FROM TRICKS TO TRIUMPHS: UNWRAPPING OCTOBER'S TREATS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

On November 7, Team VCS convened for a team huddle to revisit the company's objectives and gear up for the final months of the year. We also looked back on our collective efforts that bore fruit and propelled us forward on our journey.

Last October, we achieved milestones and secured a series of projects lined up for December 2023 and early 2024. Most of these projects are brand development and video campaigns, which underscore our commitment to innovative and impactful digital solutions.

We also commemorated the success of the Sun Life "Supercharge Your Business" webinar, which we executed last October 25. In spite of having only a brief span for preparation, we were able to attract a significant number of registrants and launch a fruitful webinar.

On another festive note, Team VCS came together for a delightful mini-gathering to celebrate Halloween. Amidst the party, we took the opportunity to extend our congratulations to Multimedia Production Supervisor Albert Dela Cruz, marking his impressive 5th anniversary with the company. The occasion was a double celebration, blending the spirit of Halloween with heartfelt appreciation for a valued team member's dedication and contributions.

More than a spooky season

October held significance for Team VCS that extended far beyond the festivities of Halloween. The previous month proved to be fulfilling for us as we were able to glean valuable insights from numerous projects, which contributed to our continuous growth and learning.

During the team huddle, the departments shared noteworthy accomplishments, valuable insights, and upcoming plans:

  • Finance and HR Manager Noemi Borrinaga highlighted the increase in the company's net earnings compared to the same period last year. The department is also actively engaged in the onboarding process for the new Business Development Executive. Looking ahead, they are gearing up for a series of training sessions to further enhance Team VCS's capabilities.

  • The Creatives Department showcased a nearly equal approval rate among team members, underscoring the efficiency and collaboration within the team. The team plans to wrap up all remaining deliverables for the year, particularly for retainer projects. An exciting development on the horizon is the finalization of the adoption of Adobe Firefly in their design process. Creative Director Jan Agulto shared that they are working more diligently on the proofing process and implementing new adjustments to consistently meet and exceed client expectations. The team is also embracing a proactive approach by involving members in more opportunities for creative and design thinking, such as participating in pitches.

  • The Digital PR Department reported a significant surge in productivity for October. They surpassed the content output on VCS’ social media platforms of the previous month. The reach and impressions on these platforms, particularly on Facebook, LinkedIn, and the company’s website, had a substantial uptick. Another achievement was the performance on TikTok, achieving the highest numbers in both video views and unique viewers. The team plans to maximize the latest features on each platform to sustain engagement and relevance in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

  • Multimedia Specialist RJ Garcia delivered a comprehensive update on the Production Department. He highlighted the completion of diverse projects for major financial institutions, most of which are GIFs and motion graphics projects. The Prod Team also played a pivotal role in boosting VCS’ online presence by creating engaging static and video content. Looking ahead, the team is committed to completing ongoing projects before the year ends and addressing revisions and client feedback. To continue the growth and development of their skills, they are also going to attend more training and complete courses.

  • Business Development Executive Andi Geronimo shared that there has been an increase in client inquiries. She reported that the company has successfully secured various brand development and video production projects. In collaboration with the Digital PR department, the BizDev team aims to strengthen digital marketing initiatives and reach more potential clients.

  • The Strat & Copy Department has been proactive in crafting and presenting compelling proposals and brand audits to various companies. There is also an increase in the reactions and engagements on the social media accounts managed by VCS. Assoc. Creative Director Kat Torrefranca is steering her team towards continuous improvement by using new idea generation techniques and enhancing their skills. This includes dedicating time to read relevant book chapters or listen to insightful podcast episodes.

  • Account Director Vans Jalandoni provided a comprehensive update on the current progress of VCS' projects. She emphasized the success of the webinar for Sun Life despite facing tight timelines. Vans also underscored the continued prominence of major financial institutions among the company's key clients. Furthermore, she announced that there are location shoots already lined up for a number of video production projects. This signals the industry’s dynamic revival and the return to the “normal” methods that were prevalent before the onset of the pandemic.

Rocking the roadblocks

It’s inevitable to navigate challenges in the workplace. Meeting tight deadlines stands out as a significant hurdle for advertisers and marketers. To address this, Team VCS plans to adopt a strategic approach by having meticulous game plans and precise alignment. These include the following:

  • Setting realistic goals

  • Prioritizing tasks based on urgency and importance

  • Focusing on delivering a high-quality product within the given constraints

  • Conducting post-project evaluations to refine our approach for future projects

In the creative industry, it’s essential to always deliver fresh ideas to the table. Thus, we always bear in mind this important lesson from Mr. Aaron Palileo’s Sun Life Supercharge talk, encapsulated by the acronym I.D.E.A.S.—Invert, Discover, Eliminate, Add, and Substitute.

Another idea generation technique that we intend to continue in the coming months is trend analysis. We plan to identify opportunities to incorporate relevant trends into our campaign and stay informed about current trends in design, technology, and culture. Doing these steps and following the trends can provide a fresh perspective and resonate with the target audience.

While brainstorming and mind mapping may not be novel techniques, their enduring impact remains undeniable. At VCS, we encourage an open and non-judgmental environment to stimulate creativity, build on each other's ideas, and allow for a free flow of thoughts.

Jingle all the way to success!: VCS’ remaining plans for 2023

As the holiday season unfurls its magic, everyone is excited to spend more time with their family and friends. At Team VCS, the excitement extends beyond the festivities—we eagerly anticipate a series of upcoming training sessions. We’re also ready to take on new, challenging, and stimulating projects that will enable us to show our creativity.

What adds an extra layer of joy is our year-end party, which is not just a celebration of our collective victories throughout the year but a special occasion to strengthen the bonds that unite us. It's more than a party; it's a shared journey of triumphs and camaraderie.

When it comes to throwing the most epic Halloween parties, VCS is a top contender. Here’s a compilation of our Halloween parties through the years:
